Children viewing Disney animations are gravely impacted regarding their perception of social issues. As Disney attempts to increase profit and keep to tradition, children view the dominant race, gender, and body image as superior. This specific commentary on cultural stereotypes follows children throughout their development. However, the themes and plot lines presented by Disney also affect young viewers. Disney creators may view their films as simply a fantasy world - a safe place for children to explore these ideas. Yet, the developmental stage of young preschool or elementary aged children does not allow for that distinction between fantasy and reality, and Disney's rhetoric of age inappropriate themes can prove harmful to a child's development.
